eMail2Pop "hangs" during the login process or while downloading a message
eMail2Pop will timeout with the mail server in 60 seconds and retry the
connection. If this continues, click on the POP3 or SMTP Service Status
in the eMail2Pop Main Interface once to turn it offline and
click it again to restart the service.
eMail2Pop is moving extremely slow and times out often
eMail2Pop is not compatible with Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal
Firewall. We strongly recommend replacing these products with ZoneAlarm
Pro from ZoneLabs. eMail2Pop is compatible with all other Norton
products.
My e-mail messages have unusual characters in them
Make sure you are viewing the mail message in its correct encoding. The default
mail encoding eMail2Pop uses is ISO-8859-1, which supports most international
languages (German, Chinese, etc). The mail encoding can be changed in eMail2Pop
POP3 Options to Unicode (UTF-8) or US-ASCII.
My Chinese, Japenese, or Korean mail is not appearing correctly
Open eMail2Pop Options -> POP3. Click Use Unicode Encoding.
Some dates in my AOL messages are not correct
America Online provides dates only for select messages. For messages that have
no date available, eMail2Pop sets the date for that message as 12:00 on the day
it was received at AOL. If there is a date, then it is most likely your e-mail
client adjusted the date to your local time zone.
I get a non-descriptive error after finishing message checking
If all your e-mail is in your inbox, then ignore this message or report it on
the support forums.
Can I check more than one mail account simultaneously?
You sure can! Use the eMail2Pop Wizard to configure your email client to
set up another account to check.
Sending e-mail
Why do my sent e-mail end with "Mail Sent by eMail2Pop...?"
eMail2Pop adds a small message at the end of every sent e-mail to unregistered
eMail2Pop users. The line reads: "Message sent by eMail2Pop - POP3/SMTP
Interface to AOL mail." After you purchase a license for eMail2Pop, the
message will be omitted from your sent e-mails.
My messages do not retain HTML formatting
Make sure that your e-mail client is sending in HTML format, and Disable HTML
Sending is not enabled in eMail2Pop SMTP Options.
My attachments are not sent
Attachments are fully supported in eMail2Pop. Try sending your message again
and verify that the eMail2Pop SMTP Status reveals that it is receiving and
processing attachments. When eMail2Pop is sending, the status should reveal
"Uploading Attachment..." If you have a slow internet connection, you may not
be able to send very large attachments. Occasionally, the AOL server hiccups
and loses an attachment, which will cause a mail failure. Resend your message
again. AOL sets a limit on the size of e-mail attachments to 16mb. Try
compressing your files before sending to optimize transfer time.
Messages with attachments seem to take a long time to process
eMail2Pop receives attachments from your email client in an encoded format.
eMail2Pop needs to open up each attachment and decode the files to comply with
AOL. This stage should not take more than 10 seconds.
eMail2Pop takes my messages but does not send it
It may be possible that eMail2Pop had a fatal crash. Open up the Options dialog
in eMail2Pop, navigate over to SMTP, and click the Clear Queue button to reset
the send queue. All messages that were not sent will be deleted. If you just
sent your mail, wait a minute or two before it is sent out.
I got a send successful message from my client but my message has not been
delivered yet
If eMail2Pop crashed previously, follow the instructions above. Otherwise,
eMail2Pop has queued your message to be sent once messages that were sent to
eMail2Pop before your message are sent. If you exited eMail2Pop prior to the
message being reached in the queue and sent, the queue will resume once
eMail2Pop is started again.
I closed eMail2Pop before my message was sent
Simply restart eMail2Pop and the send queue will continue. If your message is
not sent for a prolonged period, reset the queue in the Options dialog.
Can I use AOL's return receipt feature with my e-mail?
If you are sending mail to one or more @aol.com recipients, you can request an
automatic return receipt sent to your originating email account once the
message is read by the intended recipient(s). To utilize this feature, set the
message to high priority in your e-mail client. In Microsoft Outlook, click the
red exclamation mark (!) button. In Outlook Express, click the Priority Button
(blue arrow) and switch to high.
Spam Filter
How do I purchase a subscription for the Spam Filter?
eMail2Pop requires a subscription for the spam filter which is in
addition to normal license fees. If you purchase a license for eMail2Pop
without the spam filtering option, you will not be able to use the spam
filtering function in eMail2Pop.
To purchase a subscription, visit
http://www.email2pop.com/upgrade.php and have your license information
ready.
The Spam Filter is disabled / not working
If the Spam Filter options says that the spam filter is offline due to an
expired subscription, you will need to purchase a subscription for the spam
filter. See the above question.
Message downloading takes a long time
The spam filter performs many computations in order to analyze the e-mail
message. Slow computers may experience significantly longer message
processing times.
Other
How does eMail2Pop work?
eMail2Pop receives commands from your e-mail client, translates and converts
the commands, and interfaces with AOL's e-mail servers.
Is any of my information sent to servers outside of the mail service
involved?
None of your AOL information is sent to servers outside of AOL. eMail2Pop never
communicates with any other server in order to send your email. All
transactions are handled strictly between your computer & internet
connection and the mail provider's servers. Your login information is sent
secure and encrypted (128-bit) to AOL.
The AutoUpdate service connects to eMail2Pop's servers to get the latest
version information. No information about your accounts are sent to PorkChup
Solutions or any other server.
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes, the privacy policy can be read here inside the
help file. Please
click here to view the most recent version on the eMail2Pop website.
Why does it take so long to login to AOL?
AOL uses 3 stages of authentication during its login process. This process
usually takes on 15 seconds on a dial-up modem and about 3 on broadband.
International users may experience a longer time because the AOL mail servers
are based in the United States. If you enable the Intelligent
Sessions feature, you can dramatically cut down the time it takes to
connect to the AOL mail system.
