AOL POP3 (Receive) Settings

Server Port Number
eMail2Pop acts as a local mail server on your computer. For proper operation, eMail2Pop must use a TCP port on your computer to receive connections from your mail client. The default standard port number for the POP3 (receive) protocol is 110. If you already have another mail server on your computer and/or experience a port conflict or connection error, try changing the port number from 110 to another one, such as 111. Remember that changing the port number in eMail2Pop may also require configuration of your mail client to use the non-standard port number.
Enable Server on Startup
Enabling this option will allow eMail2Pop to start handling POP3 requests when eMail2Pop is started up. Otherwise, the POP3 server will remain offline until you activate it by clicking its status indicator. (Default - Checked)
Keep as New - Leave Messages in AOL Inbox
This feature utilizes the AOL Keep as New feature, which will leave your read mail in your Inbox. Note that leaving your mail in your Inbox will force eMail2Pop to download the same old messages repeatedly. This option is not recommended. Alternatively, you may designate Keep as New for specific accounts only by leaving this option unchecked and adding KAN: before the username for login in your e-mail client. (Default - Unchecked)
Use US-ASCII Encoding instead of Unicode
AOL encodes all messages as Unicode for maximum compatibility with international languages. If you have a sensitive e-mail reader that requires US-ASCII encoding, eMail2Pop will override the Unicode encoding and replace it with US-ASCII. (Default - Unchecked)
Disable Plain Text Version of HTML e-mail
For maximum compatibility with all e-mail readers, eMail2Pop outputs received messages as HTML and plain text when an HTML formatted e-mail is received. Because AOL does not provide a plain text copy of HTML mail, eMail2Pop uses its own procedures to derive a plain text copy. To reduce processing times for long HTML e-mail, you may disable eMail2Pop's plain text output. Disabling plain text may impede your ability to synchronize your e-mail on text-only mail readers, such as Pocket PCs or Palm based PDA devices. Normal text-only e-mails will not be affected by this setting. (Default - Unchecked)
